APEC SMEWG Project

Chinese Taipei, as the active members of the Small and Medium Enterprise Working Group (SMEWG), an APEC forum established to assist the development and capacity building of APEC Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), are holding “APEC SME Workshop on Transporting Goods and Services Reliably and Cost-Efficiently” on 11 July.

Purpose

The purpose of the workshop aims to create more opportunities of trade and investment by enhancing SMEs’ capacities in transporting their goods cost-efficiently. This workshop will address how SMEs in the region can reduce transportation costs through innovative strategies and better policy environments. It will enhance SMEs’ participation in global supply chains, as well as to facilitate trade and investment in the APEC region.

Target Workshop Participants

Over 100 people are expected to attend and the attendees will include: 
(1) Local and regional SMEs; 
(2) Officials from 21 APEC member economies; and
(3) Applied researchers, scholars, and experts. 

Expected Outcome of the Workshop

(1) More trade and investment opportunities through Eurasia transport corridor;  
(2) Enhanced participation of SMEs in global supply chains; and  
(3) Lower transportation and related costs facing SMEs.
