APEC Digital Innovation to Implement SMEs’ Low-Carbon Transformation

APEC Digital Innovation to Implement SMEs’ Low-Carbon Transformation

1. Introduction

Based on the digital resilience and green transformation initiatives implemented by Chinese Taipei in 2022 and 2023, this initiative aims to disseminate feasible practices of innovative digital solutions for SMEs to achieve carbon reduction goals, build their capacity, and promote the use of low-carbon business models among SMEs in the APEC region. This will enable them to continue participating in the supply chain, and achieve sustainable and inclusive growth.

Overall, this initiative aligns with the innovation, digitization, and sustainability issues highlighted in the APEC 2040 Vision, Bangkok Goals on the BCG Economy endorsed by 2022 APEC leaders, and the 2022 APEC Ministerial Meeting Joint Statement. It also supports the APEC theme in 2023, "Creating a Resilient and Sustainable Future for All," and aligns with its priority areas of interconnectedness, innovation, and inclusivity.

2. Objectives

1) to promote best practice cases that reveal SMEs innovative digital solutions of low-carbon business models in supply chains;
